No protective backing, no custom pads
I was not thrilled at all with the Modern Acorn pads. The seller was friendly enough, but she would not make any custom pads and you could only buy from the ones she listed on her website (she is no longer selling on Etsy). The fabrics were cute, but I found that without a protective backing (PUL or procare or other), they are only useful as too-large pantiliners, because I leaked right through the pad.

Value: High quality fabrics, superb sewing. Very knowledgeable in materials.
Customer Service: Very friendly, wonderful packaging! Like getting a present!
Comments: I have several of these pads.. But I am disappointed with how over time she kept changing her patten. I have one pad made in 2010 that is absolutely gorgeous and so comfy. Then in 2011 she sold a few batches of pads..the top-stitching on them is so close to the core (making the pad look "fat" and un-slim). The snaps are placed a bit weird. So the result is a thick, un-aesthetically pleasing pad that bunches, agh. The fabric which is flat cotton has some "painting" style going on with the flower print, so some parts of the print aren't taking in the flow to the core! Not all pretty fabrics are designed for menstrual flow!
Regarding the comment above me: Some of her pads that she offered have a 100% cotton back which is flat cotton (or quilter's cotton) so obviously it won't provide moisture or water-proofing resistance. Most of her classic pads use polyester fleece as the back. Another point that people need to READ listings before complaining!
That being said, these pads are pretty well made and it's like getting a special gift in the mail!

I wrote my review in Oct 2010. This seller did not offer any protective backings whatsoever at that time. When I asked her for one, she said she did not offer any. Period.
I can READ, thanks.

I love Amanda :)
I rated a 5
I have always been a fan of Amanda, whether it be her sewing, her knitting, her general enthusiasm for life, etc.
Her pads are very well made. She is a perfectionist when it comes to sewing and will not sell a second rate pad. She tries to make the pad awesome and fun b adding kawaii and designer fabrics, amazing embroidery stitching and re-doing her pattern to suit the public. I own 2 regular pads and 2 liners and I love them all. They are a bit harder to get stains out of but they fit well. Unfortunately when she was open, her pads were so popular that you usually had to be on Etsy with mouse ready to get even one of her coveted pads! That is not her fault in any way, she is just that awesome Adrienne

Re: Modern Acorn (USA)
I have one of these, but it was one of my early favourites because it is very beautiful. The placement of the print is perfect, the sewing impeccable, and the shape beautiful and comfortable. Again, because of my heavy flow and love of longer pads, I've only ever used the pad with a light flow, but now I see she does 11.5 inch pads, I'm tempted to buy another one to give that a go. Definitely a 5/5
