Moonpads (Epicerma) (USA) Empty These pads are not for me

Post  indira Tue Aug 31, 2010 9:26 pm

I have a set of Epicerma pads: a pantyliner; night pad; day pad; and extra absorbent pads. I can't tell the difference between regular and extra ones.

I purchased this because they're so cute and comes in lovely color.
Too bad I don't like Epicerma.

Except the night pad, all very short, about 7.5". I'm not a heavy bleeder, but in heavy days 7.5" is not enough. Not to mention the pads don't have waterproof backing (because of this, I don't wear it on heavy days)

The serge in thicker pads touch my skin, I'm afraid it would irritate my skin when I walk a lot. It could have been better if the pads were contoured.

Epicerma just can't fill my needs, also it's expensive, so I rate it 2 No

Value: Very pricey considering the limited sizes offered. The pads are really super stiff and the thickness is not too bad. The pads pretty much look like serged "cores" with wings attached to the back. They should branch out a bit and try different designs. The width of their pads is too narrow and there isn't an hourglass, curvy, or "squishy" shape to accommodate for heavy menstruation. These are better suited for light flow.

Customer Service: Fantastic customer service, very polite. Love the "flyers" they put in with the pads.

Comments: I just don't recommend them unless you have a light menstrual flow/menstrual cup back-up. They really aren't worth the money. It's a real shame because the quality of the fabrics is superb.

I actually really like these pads, but I can very much understand the complaints of those who do not. I'm petite with a "straight down" kind of flow (except when sleeping) and find the small default size fits me well; it covers only the areas it needs to and no more. Though the higher absorbencies are stiff as the previous reviewers mentioned, I find that this is not a problem due to the very small size of the pads. The edges are serged rather than turned and topstitched, making it even thinner. The only drawback with respect to fit is that they are not waterproofed, but it is definitely something I got used to. I would not recommend these if you have a heavy or unpredictable flow.

The pads are well-made and very attractive because of their simple design and colorful patterns on the wings with coordinating hand-dyed cores. They are very durable due to the simple materials and shape, but they are thick enough that they may not get clean if you just throw them into an average washing machine. You need a powerful washing machine or have to wash them by hand somewhat before putting them in the machine. The extra absorbent ones also do not dry on a single trip through an average dryer, and I would not recommend air-drying them unless you live in a very dry area.

I acquired all my Moonpads in trades and from the Cloth Bank and can't comment on customer service. I will say that I considered buying more once I tried them and was deterred by the price. They cost about what an all-organic pad with a complicated design would, except the style is very simple and the materials are not 100% organic.
